Conquest, War, Famine and Death by Bob Atkinson

Conquest, War, Famine
and Death

(c)2012 Bob Atkinson
cycles of misery live again
over and over with heavy hand
conquest corrupts, has nature's form
survival of the fittest becomes the norm

war means nations fight to the death
leading armies, gaining wealth
traditions garnered for many years
from all memory of losers disappear

famine leads to unordered carnage
unfeeling acts of untamed twits
feeble power killing with
gun, sword, knife and fist

death reaches us all in time
no surprise here, but if we fall
will fail to prolong that was learned
our mark extinguished, our saddles burned

moral to this frightful chronicle
write your records, document your story
tell all how you feel and think
show your emotional makeup quick

with your erudite written narrative
describe all you feel and hold
to be truth and simple pleasure
give them of you something to remember
