Memories of Life - by Bob Atkinson

Memories of Life
(c)2013 Bob Atkinson
shallow thoughts about to drive
those feelings toward an edge
where all that really could be
lies on a grounded ledge

where our minds drive into darkness
where our hopes are stuck in cages
where our life force ebbs with passion
where our dollars have been paid

we single out our feelings
let them sift as turning pages
driving us to inner blackness
of somewhat violent rages

yet with gentleness we dream of
those stories we had found
inside covers of the fables
someone else had written down

why do feelings of a master
drive ideas deep into our heads
or follow forlorn hopes of greatness
into bedlands of the dead

toward open fields of goodness
to live with that we find
draws purpose from surroundings
toward consciousness of mind
